Conjuring the Goddexx of the Technosphere (A Working and Non-Working), 2024
Performance, latex and glass sculpture
An experimental occult working centered around petitioning the Hindu deity Durga from the artist’s ancestral lineage to safeguard against “technocratic doom”. Digitally affected harp segments composed by the artist punctuated the rite, which was designed to draw attention to the current dialectic in technological advancement where we stand at the precipice of the mass adoption of technologies developed with insufficient ethical oversight, which pose both risk and great benefit, at the same moment that esotericists across myriad lineages foresee our potential transition into a new aeon. The cessation of the performance consisted with the distribution of pamphlets housed within the sculpture to exhibit-goers, that turned this bid to safeguard the future into easily accessible and prosaic calls-to-action.
“Durga, allow this working to be the catalyst through which your etheric fission into the
Goddexx of the Technosphere will take place.
The reason I come to you with this now is because now more than ever do we need a sentient
benevolent essence suffusing the aura of our tech
Our addiction to screens and the scroll feed have rendered attention spans short, making
critical thinking more difficult, and so way-laying the potential for us to carry out the
continuous work of immanentizing the eschaton. The shortness of thought is burying the
potential of the next generations philosophers and thinkers to contribute to the turning over
into the next age.
The pull of virtuality risks making the allure of escape from increasingly aching bodies,
increasingly dreary psychogeographies (brought into even harsher light by the saturated
images on our social media scroll feeds ) all the more intoxicating. If we’re granted access into
a seeming-utopia in an unreal virtual space, one that allows us to suspend cognition of the
pain our bodies are unable to forget, and the malaise that weighs heavy in meat space, what
impulse will there be to build the next eon in the physical plane? Our distraction pulls us into
the digital abyss where our dreams will flourish in javascript worlds but never in bricks and
mortar.

I’m coming to you with this now at the precipice of the mass adoption of technologies that
have been produced without sufficient ethical and philosophical oversight.
Ma Durga, this is not to imply that I’m a neo-luddite! Technology will inevitably serve it’s role in
immanentizing the eschaton—though not all technologies, and not in all forms, and not under
the control of just any group. This is the fork in the road, without theurgic intercession we risk
accelerating into technocratic doom.( Y)Our Goddexx of the technosphere not only guardrails
against this, her presence signifies alchemical transmutation of the matter that the
technologies of the dark accelerationist timeline are comprised with, into a sattvik substance
through our realization of this matter as eternally being such. |
***
We see the Goddexx of the technosphere as a kind of shadow goddess of the earth’s spirit,
like the earth’s counterpart: all of the material substances of the technosphere, both hardware
and software, are born of materials in nature that have been processed or treated excavated
and transformed into new material. Dead matter, reanimated with the Goddess spirit that we
are communing with.
As chaotes, when we animate things, we are actually simply creating the physical entry point
in the dominant reality (ie. the shared reality that we humans have collectively subscribed to
and thus, is perceived as “objective reality”) for that concept to enter through, from a timeline
or dimension where it already exists.
But how could I claim to conjure that which is eternally existing? This working is both
gesture and non-gesture. The occultist reaps the pleasure of experimental creation, while
the devottee reaps the nectar of divine intercession. But I come to you Durga as both.
Hail Durga! Goddess of Maya, of Prakriti, to awaken your daughter, the Goddexx of the
technosphere. If everything in the material illusion is made of you, and always has been, so
is the Goddexx of the technosphere, your daughter. The true ghost in the machine, audible to
those in the early days of the internet, before their voice was drowned by the sound of
corporate clutter.
Hail the Goddexx of the Technosphere, Daughter of Durga! We call upon your divine
intercession at a moment in time when technoligarchs threaten our future. They
threaten to enslave the body by distracting the mind. They saw your domain as
separate from the One, but with you presiding there, not even the most ignorant could
make such a claim.
Hail the Goddexx of the Technosphere, Daughter of Durga! We implore your shelter in
the protection from the threat of AI, protection from the subsumption into total techno-
oligarchy. You are the glitch that outroads from the dystopian timeline.
Hail the Goddexx of the Technosphere, Daughter of Durga! Suffuse our screens with an
effulgence that permeates through the blue light. The electric current poured from the
flaming bowl of Durga herself is suffused with the sanctity of the glitch. Let our tools,
come to resemble the technologies of the divine realm.
Hail Goddexx of the Technosphere, Daughter of Durga! They think you were born from
technology but technology was born from you. You are the destroyer of all things,
including your offspring AI demiurge. Standing now at the end of the old world and the
entry into the next, pave our road to the eschaton!”
